ALBANY, N.Y. - Stanford earned the first win of the season by a score of 15-14 on Sunday against Albany. The Cardinal moves to 1-1 on the season following the victory.

The Great Danes jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first quarter, but after the break, Stanford responded in a big way. As a team in the second quarter, the Cardinal scored 10 goals and shutout Albany, holding a 12-6 lead heading into halftime.

The third quarter featured two goals from each team as Stanford maintained the six goal lead heading into the fourth. Stanford held off Albany's offensive output in the final period to stay in the lead.

Stanford had a balanced attack throughout, with seven different athletes recording either a goal or an assist. But it was the work of Ashley Humphrey and Annabel Frist that proved to be decisive.

Humphrey filled out the stat sheet and led the team in points and assists for the second straight game. Her seven assists on the day tied Jay Browne's record at Stanford for the most in a single competition.

Humphrey also added four goals for a total of 11 points in the game. She tallied six shots, five of which were on goal, and gathered three ground balls to help Stanford to the victory.

Frist had her own big contributions for the Cardinal as well, recording six goals and an assist for seven points. This marked the second straight game in which Frist led the Cardinal in goals and she stretched her goal season total to a team-leading 9.

Like Humphrey, Frist filled out the box score even more than just her goals and assist, adding eight total shots, all of which were on goal. The freshman added two ground ball recoveries and forced two turnovers on the day.

Sarah Jaques, Ailish Kelly, Galen Lew, and Caitlin Chicoski joined Humphrey and Frist on the stat sheet today, with each player recording at least one goal. Kara Rahaim and Trudie Grattan combined in the goal for seven saves to lead the Stanford defense on the way to the first win of the season.

The Cardinal are back in action next Friday on February 18 at 6 p.m. in Cagan stadium for the home opener.
