STANFORD, Calif. - No. 15 Stanford improved to 4-1 on the young season with another sweep at home, crusing past Saint Mary's by a score of 7-0.
The Cardinal had to battle to take the doubles point, overcoming a loss on court one with wins from Valencia Xu and Alexandra Yepifanova and Sara Choy and Ana Geller.
Singles was smoother, with Stanford winning every set. Yepifanova finished first, and the match was clinched with a victory from Angelica Blake. Connie Ma fought off four set points in the second set to defeat the country's No. 36 player from Saint Mary's. Xu has now won 12 straight matches for the Cardinal.
Stanford is back in action next Friday, hosting Texas, currently ranked the nation's No. 3 team.
