Card Closes Mizzou Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stanford lost a pair of games on Sunday to ranked opponents at the Mizzou Classic, finishing the weekend 2-2. The Cardinal was defeated 4-0 by No. 12 Northwestern in the first game of the day, before a 5-0 loss to the hosts, No. 17 Missouri, in the second game of the day.

NORTHWESTERN RECAP
The Cardinal couldn't get the bats going in the first game of the day, as No. 12 Northwestern won 4-0. Sydnee Huff walked twice and Alana Vawter struck out seven in six-plus innings.

Northwestern scored two in the first with a two-out single and added a run in the third with a two-out double. The Wildcats would tack on an insurance run in the top of the seventh for their ninth straight victory.

Northwestern's Danielle Williams picked up the win, improving to 11-1 on the season. She struck out 11 and did not allow a hit.

MIZZOU RECAP
Caelan Koch led the way with two hits in the nightcap, but Missouri's pitching stymied the Stanford bats in holding the Cardinal to just four hits in the 5-0 setback.

The Tigers took advantage of a two-out error in the first inning to jump out to a 2-0 lead, and added two home runs in the late innings to extend the lead to five.

In addition to Koch's two hits, Taylor Gindlesperger (double) and Emily Young each recorded hits in the game.

Tatum Boyd got the start and allowed just one earned run in four innings. Regan Krause and Molly Millar combined to finish the game in the circle.

The Cardinal will head to Nebraska for a Tuesday afternoon showdown with the Cornhuskers, before finishing its road trip in Corvallis this weekend for the start of Pac-12 play against Oregon State.
