Bounce Back Win

Eugene, Ore. - No. 24 Stanford earned a bounce back victory against Oregon by a score of 20-10 on Sunday. The Cardinal had five scorers record three goals or more, led by Ashley Humphrey with four strikes.

The Cardinal improve to 6-5 on the season and 4-1 in conference games while Oregon drops to 3-7 and 1-4 in Pac-12 contests.

This marked the fourth time in six games that Stanford recorded at least 19 goals. The Cardinal took an early lead with a 4-2 first quarter, thanks to one goal apiece from Ashley Humphrey, Galen Lew, Ailish Kelly, and Annabel Frist.

Stanford dominated in the offensive categories against the Ducks, tallying 37 shots and 29 on target, nine more than the hosts. Ali Baiocco led all players in shots with 10, while contributing three goals and three assists on the day.

Stanford added four more goals in the second quarter before exploding for eight total strikes in the third, the second best offensive output in a single quarter for the Cardinal this season. After allowing one goal to open the second half, Stanford ripped off five unanswered to build a 13-6 lead.

Ashley Humphrey led the team in points with seven total, thanks to her four goals, two of which came in the third period, and three assists. Annabel Frist, Liana McDonnell, and Sarah Jaques joined Humphrey and Baiocco with hat tricks in Eugene.

The Cardinal piled on four more goals in the fourth quarter, making it the third 20 goal game of the year. Krara Rahaim and the Stanford defense held Oregon to only 10 goals, the fourth time the defense held a team to 10 goals or less this season.

Rahaim tallied 10 saves on the day while Olivia Geoghan earned her first minutes in goal for the Cardinal. Rahaim also led the team in ground balls with seven against the Ducks.

Nine different players chipped in at least one draw control in the game while Galen Lew paced the team with four. Baiocco also held the lead in caused turnovers with two against Oregon.

Stanford returns home for the last home stand of the season next weekend, facing Colorado on Friday April 1 and Oregon April 3 for senior day.
