Tied for Fourth

WEST WINDSOR, N.J.- No. 2 Stanford concluded its 2022 campaign Sunday, finishing tied for fourth in the chase for the IRA Commissioner's Cup. The Cardinal's efforts were led by a third-place finish for Stanford in the varsity 8+ and a fifth-place result for the Cardinal in the varsity 4+ race.

No. 1 Princeton brought home the national championship victory, followed by Boston University in second place (58 points) and Radcliffe (Harvard) in third (56 points). Rounding out the standings were Stanford and Georgetown (51 points each), followed by Wisconsin (43), MIT (33) and Gordon College (7).

The Cardinal's doubles boat opened racing with a second-place finish in the varsity 2x petite final.

Stanford then raced in the varsity 4+ grand final, finishing fifth and topping Wisconsin and Georgetown.

The Cardinal finished its time at the IRA Championships with a third-place finish in the varsity eight race, bringing home a bronze medal to The Farm.

Stanford has now brought home at least one podium finish in each of its trips to the sport's national championship dating back to 2014.

Alongside its podium effort at the IRA Championships, Stanford's 2022 season was highlighted by a first-place finish at The Knecht Cup, April 10, a fifth-place finish at the San Diego Crew Classic March 26-27, and intense racing in dual matchups at Redwood Shores with eventual 2022 IRA Champion and No. 1 Princeton as well as No. 6 Wisconsin April 16 and April 23.
