High-Octane Offense Beats Buffs

BOULDER, Colo. – Behind Kendall Kipps's season-high 22 kills, No. 8 Stanford defeated Colorado, 25-13, 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, Friday, at the CU Events Center.

As a team, Stanford (9-4, 4-1 Pac-12) registered a season-high 67 kills on .277 hitting, and had 10.0 blocks, six aces and 65 digs. Colorado (11-4, 3-2 Pac-12) hit .200 and totaled 8.0 blocks and six aces.

Kipp's 22 kills came on a .395 attack percentage. The opposite also had five digs, three blocks, four aces and a career-high three assists. Trailing 17-14 in the fourth, Kipp went on a run from the service line, which included a pair of aces, to put the Cardinal on top 18-17.

Setter Kami Miner recorded her team-best fifth double-double of the season, finishing one assist shy of her season-high. The sophomore tallied 52 assists and a season-high 15 digs and four blocks. She also had two kills, one during Kipp's run in the fourth set, and an ace on match-point.
 


Stanford is now 25-1 all-time against Colorado, which dropped its first home match of the season. The Cardinal has won 12 straight against the Buffaloes.

Middle blocker Sami Francis pitched in with 11 kills on .304 hitting, three digs and a team-best eight blocks. Freshman outside hitter Elia Rubin recorded her second double-double of the year with 16 kills and 11 digs.
 


Junior libero Elena Oglivie racked up a match-high 17 digs and had six assists. The Honolulu native had an impressive run at the service line of her own in the first set, sparking a 13-0 Cardinal run.

Redshirt junior outside hitter Caitie Baird also had a double-double, her third of the season, with 10 kills and 10 digs, while middle blocker McKenna Vicini added six kills and two blocks.

Colorado was led offensively by outside hitter Lexi Hadrych who had 15 kills. Setter Taylor Simpson finished with 22 assists, 11 digs and three aces.

Stanford closes out the weekend on Sunday at Utah. First serve is slated for 3 p.m. PT on ESPNU.
