12 Cardinal Earn Conference Honors

SAN FRANCISCO -- Junior placekicker Joshua Karty earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors to lead Stanford football, the conference announced Tuesday. Also earning conference recognition were senior cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly and junior tight end Benjamin Yurosek, both named to the second team. Senior offensive linemen Walter Rouse and Drake Nugent, senior defensive lineman Stephen Herron, senior linebacker Levani Damuni, fifth-year linebacker Ricky Miezan, senior punter Ryan Sanborn, fifth-year wide receivers Brycen Tremayne and Michael Wilson, and senior wide receiver Elijah Higgins each garnered honorable mention recognition.

Karty, a Lou Groza award finalist and native of Burlington, N.C., went 18-of-18 on the year on field goal attempts, with 13 of those makes from 40-or-more yards. Karty was the only qualified kicker nationally with no misses on the year, and the only kicker with 13 makes of 40+ yards this season. He becomes just the eighth kicker in program history to earn first-team laurels.

Kelly earned his second-straight All-Pac-12 Second Team nod, continuing to cement his legacy as one of the best cornerbacks in the nation. Kelly finished the season with 35 tackles (26 solo, 9 assisted) and six passes defended, the second-most by any Cardinal defender this season.

Yurosek, a native of Bakersfield, Calif., finished the 2022 season with 49 receptions for 445 yards, the third-most receiving yards of any Stanford player. He earns his second All-Pac-12 honor after receiving honorable mention status during the 2021 season.
