STANFORD, Calif. - The Cardinal wrapped up the regular season in style on Saturday afternoon, taking down California 161-101. The victory marked Stanford's eighth-straight dual meet win this year as Stanford completed an undefeated campaign through the regular season.
Despite dropping the 200 medley relay to start the meet, the Cardinal rattled off 10 event wins on its way to the big meet victory.
Aurora Roghair claimed the first title of the meet for the Cardinal, winning the 1000 free in 9:50.38. Morgan Tankersley battled hard in the event to come back and take second place, out-touching a California swimmer by 0.14 seconds.
Roghair took command of both distance events, finishing first in the 500 free as well. She beat out fellow Cardinal Kayla Wilson for the title with a 4:47.37.
Wilson added a title of her own, coming in with a 1:45.51 in the 200 free. Taylor Ruck also earned a podium finish in the event, taking third overall.
Claire Curzan had a dominant display in the butterfly events, taking the event titles in both the 100 and 200 fly. In the 200, Curzan swam a 1:54.42 for the title with Charlotte Hook notching a 1:57.25 for second place.
The 100 fly resembled the 200, with Curzan recording a 51.08 and the event win, but this time Emma Wheal took second overall with a 52.62.
Emma Wheal earned her own event title in the 50 free, out-touching Torri Huske for the win with a 22.42. Not to be outdone, Huske dominated the 200 IM, winning the event by nearly three seconds with a 1:57.66.
To close out the meet, Stanford earned a decisive win in the 400 free relay. Claire Curzan, Amy Tang, Emma Wheal, and Taylor Ruck combined for a 3:15.58 and the event win to cap of the senior day celebrations in Avery.
Stanford returns to action in the postseason, with the Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships beginning on Wednesday, February 22 in Federal Way, Washington.
