Card Edged in Final Minutes at #4 UCLA

LOS ANGELES – Stanford men's basketball faced a top-five opponent for the second consecutive game, but narrowly fell on the road at No. 4/4 UCLA, 73-64, on Thursday at Pauley Pavilion.

Michael Jones scored a team-best 15 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, while Harrison Ingram chipped in 13 points with seven rebounds and five assists. Maxime Raynaud tallied his second-career double-double, posting 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Cardinal shot 50.0 percent from the field for the night, and outrebounded UCLA, 34-32.

The Cardinal led for more than half the game, and carried a four-point lead into halftime, 31-27. Six different Stanford players had at least two field goals over the opening 20 minutes, with Stanford shooting 48.3 percent from the floor in the half.

A UCLA run to open the second half gave UCLA a seven-point lead, 45-38, but Stanford responded with a 12-0 run that included seven points from Michael Jones and a 3-pointer from Spencer Jones. The 3-pointer put Spencer Jones in sole possession of second place on the all-time Stanford list for career triples with 242.

The Bruins managed to re-take the lead using a large advantage at the free throw line. Stanford was called for 26 fouls against just 14 for the Bruins.

The Cardinal returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 18 at USC. The 7 p.m. tip will air on ESPNU.
