STANFORD, Calif. - The Cardinal claimed two victories over the weekend, topping the Western Regionals on Saturday and winning in a dual meet against UCLA on Sunday. The dual was also Stanford's senior day, where the team celebrated seniors Audrey Nguyen, Ava Jih-Schiff, Emily Brieant, and Hailee Heinrich.
At the Western Regionals on Saturday, Stanford took the top spot overall, scoring 86 points in the victory. UCLA was the second-place finisher, scoring 82.5 points while Arizona finished in third place with 79 points.
Stanford did not enter a competitor in the solo, and Ariana Stanton from UCLA was the top-finisher in the event, scoring a 75.9000 with Julia Paradis from Arizona in second at 73.7000.
In the duet, the Cardinal claimed both first and second place, with Yara Elian and Lindi Schroeder combining for the gold. The first place duo recorded an 83.8333 while Miko Begossi and Ivy Davis took second place with an 82.5000.
The Cardinal once again took first place in the trio with an all-freshman group. Elian, Begossi, and Davis combined to win the event, scoring 83.6000 points, nearly 10 points ahead of the second-place trio from UCLA.
Emily Brieant, Natalie Greenfield, and Atira O'Neil made up Stanford's second trio, scoring a 73.2000 to earn third place.
The Cardinal also claimed the team title, scoring 84.1667 to top second-place UCLA and third place Arizona. Stanford's team included Miko Begossi, Yujin Chang, Ivy Davis, Yara Elian, Hailee Heinrich, Atira O'Neil, Nicole Goot, and Emmanuella Tchakmakjian.
In the Figure A Elements, Stanford claimed the top seven spots with Nicole Goot earning first overall and a score of 83.6023. Tchakmakjian, Schroeder, Davis, Elian, Begossi, and Chang took second through seventh.
On Sunday, Stanford and UCLA only competed in the solo, trio, and team events. Lindi Schroeder took the individual title in the solo, scoring 82.7333.
In the trio, Nicole Goot, Hailee Heinrich, and Lindi Schroeder scored an 83.8000 to take first overall, narrowly beating out Yujin Chang, Audrey Nguyen, and Emmanuella Tchakmakjian who scored an 83.6667.
UCLA took third place, but Stanford added a fourth place finish from Emily Brieant, Natalie Greenfield, and Atira O'Neil who recorded a 75.1667.
In the final event, the team competition, Stanford scored an 83.9000 for the victory. The team of Begossi, Davis, Elian, Goot, Heinrich, Jih-Schiff, Tchakmakjian, and Nguyen worked together to earn gold, scoring Stanford's best mark of the season in the team competition so far this season.
The Cardinal returns to action next weekend at the MPSF Championships in Denton, Texas, hosted by Texas Women's University.
