STANFORD, Calif. - The Cardinal got back to winning ways on Friday afternoon, taking down Arizona State in a rematch of the 2022 Pac-12 Tournament Championship game. The Cardinal, led by Ashley Humphrey and Jay Browne who each scored three goals, defeated the Sun Devils 15-9.

Stanford improves to 5-5 on the year and 3-1 in conference play while Arizona State falls to 2-7 and 1-3 in the Pac-12.

The Cardinal jumped out to a 4-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, staying in front until the final whistle. Annabel Frist got the action started in the first quarter, netting her 30th goal of the season on the assist from Rylee Bouvier.

Frist tallied three points in the game from two goals and an assist. However, her largest contribution was on the draw, where she corralled 10 controls, her fifth game this season with 10 or more.

Stanford piled on the offense in the second quarter, scoring six goals while only allowing one the other direction. The Cardinal maintained the momentum in the third, scoring five more and shutting out the Sun Devils.

Sarah Jaques led all players in points in the game, recording six from two goals and four assists. She now has the second-most goals on the team this season with 23 to go along with 15 assists.

Liana McDonnel tallied two goals as well while Kelsey Myers, Maddigan Miller, and Katy Gilbert each found the back of the net once.

On defense, Kara Rahaim was stellar in goal, making 12 saves compared to only five goals allowed, earning a .706 save percentage. Olivia Geoghan also saw time in the game as she took control between the pipes for the final 6:50 in the fourth quarter.

Caroline Mondiello and Emma Capanna anchored Stanford's defense in the field, each forcing two turnovers for the Sun Devils. Throughout the game, Stanford forced seven of the visitors' 14 turnovers.

Ailish Kelly led Stanford with five ground balls as the team collected 18 total during the game. The Cardinal found plenty of success capitalizing off defensive stops, completing 18 of 21 clear attempts in the contest.

The Cardinal returns to action on Sunday as Stanford hosts conference leader No. 19 USC in a pivotal Pac-12 game at 1 p.m. in Cagan Stadium.
