STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford defeated No. 19 USC on Sunday afternoon 15-12 in Cagan Stadium. The Cardinal moves to the top of the Pac-12 with the win, improving to 6-5 and 4-1 in conference.

USC drops to 9-3 and 4-1 in the Pac-12.

The two teams were even at halftime, each taking seven goals into the break. Stanford outscored the Trojans 8-5 over the final two periods to earn the signature win over its conference rival.

The Cardinal has now won the last four matchups with USC, dating back to April 18, 2021.

Stanford was dominant in multiple statistical categories, most notably on the draw control. The Cardinal earned 25 draw controls to USC's six, with 13 coming from Annabel Frist, her sixth game this season with 10 or more controls.

The sophomore now has 95 draw controls on the season, the third-most ever in a season for a Cardinal player. Her total is the most in the Pac-12 and the third-most in the NCAA.

Frist also provided a spark for the Stanford offense, firing in four goals and adding an assist to her tally. She shared the point lead on the day with Ashley Humphrey who had two goals to go along with three assists.

Humphrey's hat trick of assists moves her to 116 in her career, just six behind Kelsey Murray for the career assists record.

Ailish Kelly recorded a hat trick on the day for the second-most goals of any Cardinal player. She added an assist as well for four total points.

Jay Browne and Liana McDonnell each netted two goals while Rylee Bouvier and Sarah Jaques scored one each to make it seven Stanford scorers.

Stanford's defense stifled the Trojans' attack throughout the game, holding the visitors to 21 shots compared to the Cardinal's 33. The Cardinal also hounded the Trojans consistently, causing 12 turnovers led by three from Ashley Humphrey and two each from Julia Greene and Katie McMahon.

Kara Rahaim led from the back for Stanford, playing all 60 minutes in goal. She made five saves in the game, giving her 104 saves on the season, the most in the Pac-12.

Stanford returns to action with the reverse fixtures of this weekend, facing Arizona State on Friday in Tempe, Arizona before traveling to Los Angeles to take on USC on Sunday.
