Bounced Back Against the Buffs

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford got back to winning ways on Friday afternoon, taking down Colorado 18-13. The win moved Stanford to 8-7 on the season and 6-2 in conference, the second-best mark in the Pac-12.

Colorado falls to 7-7 and 5-3 in Pac-12 play. The Cardinal moves to 11-8 in the all-time series against the Buffs.

Stanford jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first quarter and continued to pile on the offense throughout the game outscoring the Buffs in the first, second, and third quarters. Stanford held an 8-6 advantage at halftime and never looked back, leading until the final whistle.

Ailish Kelly led all Cardinal with four goals and was one of three to earn a hat trick, along with Jay Browne and Sarah Jaques. Jaques led the Cardinal in points, earning six from her three goals and three assists.

Kelly also had six ground balls in the game, the most of any player. The Cardinal had 28 ground balls in the game, 12 more than Colorado's 16.

Annabel Frist had four assists on the day, a season-high mark for the sophomore. She also chipped in eight draw controls, the most in the game. Her season total is up to 120, just one behind Genesis Lucero's mark of 121 in 2021.

Kelly added five more draw controls for Stanford, helping the Cardinal to 20 overall, six more than Colorado's 14.

Ashley Humphrey became the Cardinal's all-time leader in assists, officially recording assist number 123, topping Kelsey Murray's 122. The redshirt sophomore added two goals as well for three points against the Buffs.

Kara Rahaim led the way defensively for Stanford, making 14 saves for a save percentage of 0.519. Four Cardinal forced a turnover, with Ailish Kelly, Caroline Mondiello, Julia Greene, and Annabel Frist forcing one each.

Stanford was on point from free position attempts, firing in five goals on its eight shots. Frist is among the nation's best in free position goals, ranking seventh with 1.14 free position goals per game.

The Cardinal wraps up its home slate on Sunday against Oregon at 1 p.m. Stanford will celebrate its eight seniors in a ceremony after the game.
