OJAI, Calif. – No. 23 Stanford men's tennis earned a victory in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament, defeating No. 29 California, 4-2, at Libbey Park. The win is Stanford's second in a row this season over the Golden Bears.
Cal took an early lead in the match with two wins in doubles. Aryan Chaudhary and Filip Kolasinski scored a 6-4 win on court two to open the tally, but the Golden Bears rallied for two wins to earn the doubles point.
Stanford responded in singles, taking a 2-1 lead after wins on court four from Neel Rajesh and court one from Arthur Fery, with Fery earning his ninth ranked win of the season. Cal tied it once again, 2-2, before Max Basing finished off a straight set win in the third position.
Two matches went to a third set, and Chaudhary provided the clinching point in the sixth slot after taking a 6-3 result in the final frame.
Stanford returns to action on Friday, April 28 at 1 p.m. against the winner of USC and Oregon.
