STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford junior Torri Huske wrapped a two-week stretch of international competition this past weekend, competing in the opening two legs of the 2023 World Cup.
The Arlington, Va., native compted in a total of 25 races over the course of ten days, earning seven podium finishes between the two competition weekends.
The first leg of the 2023 World Cup began in Berlin, Germany on Oct. 6-8, where Huske tallied three bronze medals on the weekend, reaching the podium stand in the 50 fly (25.85), 100 fly (57.32), and 50 free (24.66). Huske also reached the finals in the 200 IM, 100 free, and 200 free, and competed in Heat 4 of the 50 back but failed to reach the event final.
Coming back for leg two in Athens, Greece, Huske added four more medals to her count and improved upon six of her leg one times. The junior swimmer posted her best finish of the event in the 200 IM, clocking a 2:11.15 to earn the silver medal. Huske once again earned bronze in the 50 fly (25.73), 100 fly (57.12), and 50 free (24.62), posting event-best times in each of the three races. She also competed in her second 200 free final of the World Cup and improved upon her first leg 50 back performance by reaching the event final in Greece with a seventh-place finish.
The 2020 Olympic silver medalist has elected to train internationally this season to prepare for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Huske is the reigning Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year, has earned 14 All-America honors and is a 14-time Pac-12 champion.
