Stanford in the NFL: Week 6

LINEBACKER BOBBY OKEREKE of the New York Giants had the most spectacular game among Stanford alums during a Week 6 of strong defensive performances by former Cardinal around the NFL. Nine former Cardinal started and 20 suited up to play this weekend. Overall, 34 Stanford alums are on NFL rosters. Here is a summary of how they fared:

New York Giants starting right linebacker Bobby Okereke had 11 tackles, including eight solo, in the Giants' 14-9 loss at Buffalo. Okereke also had two tackles for loss, two passes defensed, and forced a fumble. Okereke, who played every defensive snap for the Giants, is seventh in the NFL in solo tackles with 31, and 17th in overall tackles with 53. Okereke had a coverage grade of 85.9 by Pro Football Focus, the fifth-highest among linebackers.

Kansas City starting safety Justin Reid intercepted a pass and had a sack in the Chiefs' 19-8 victory over visiting Denver on Thursday night. Reid also had five tackles, a quarterback hurry, and a pass defensed.

Washington defensive end Casey Toohill had two sacks and a quarterback hurry in the Commanders' 24-16 victory at Atlanta. Toohill played 18 defensive snaps and 17 on special teams. Falcons' starting center Drew Dalman played all 83 offensive snaps, recovered a fumble and had a tackle on an interception return. Dalman's blocking grade of 78.3 by Pro Football Focus was fifth-highest among centers.

San Francisco starting running back Christian McCaffrey scored on a 13-yard shovel pass from Brock Purdy in the first quarter of the 49ers' 19-17 loss at Cleveland to extend his streak of consecutive games (including playoffs) with a touchdown to 15. The score ties McCaffrey with Hall of Fame running backs O.J. Simpson and John Riggins for the second-most in NFL history. McCaffrey carried 11 times for 43 yards, including a 27-yarder, and caught three passes for nine yards before exiting the game with an injury. He continues to lead the NFL in rushing, with 553 yards. 49ers' linebacker Curtis Robinson had a tackle on punt coverage.

Houston tight end Dalton Schultz caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud to open the scoring in the Texans' 20-13 victory over visiting New Orleans. Schultz, who has caught touchdown passes in three consecutive games, had four receptions for 61 yards and grabbed a 31-yarder that helped set up a field goal. He played on 40 offensive snaps. Saints' starting left cornerback Paulson Adebo had a solo tackle among his 59 defensive snaps. Saints' offensive guard Andrus Peat played three special teams snaps.

Miami punter Jake Bailey had four punts for a 48.3-yard average with a 60-yarder inside the 20 among them in the Dolphins' 42-21 victory over visiting Carolina. Bailey held on six extra-point tries and kicked off once, for a touchback. He had a grade of 73.9 by Pro Football Focus – eighth-highest among punters.

Minnesota starting defensive lineman Harrison Phillips had a sack among four tackles, and a quarterback hurry in a 19-13 victory at Chicago. Phillips played 54 (82 percent) of the Vikings' defensive snaps and had a 68.9 run defense grade by Pro Football Focus, the 25th-highest among defensive linemen.

Las Vegas tight end Austin Hooper had two catches for 19 yards in the Raiders' 21-17 victory over visiting New England. Hooper played 24 offensive snaps. Patriots' receiver Ty Montgomery had a catch for nine yards and returned a kickoff for 23 yards. Montgomery played three offensive snaps and 14 on special teams.

Arizona starting receiver Michael Wilson had three catches for 62 yards with each catch resulting in first downs in the Cardinals' 26-9 loss at the Los Angeles Rams. Arizona starting tight end Zach Ertz had two catches for 22 yards and made a tackle after an interception. Wilson played 67 offensive snaps and Ertz 35. 

New York Jets defensive tackle Solomon Thomas had two tackles in a 20-14 victory over visiting Philadelphia – the Eagles' first loss. Thomas played 18 defensive snaps and three on special teams. 

Seattle tight end Colby Parkinson had three catches for 16 yards in the Seahawks' 17-13 loss at Cincinnati. Seattle cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly played seven special teams snaps. Bengals' starting receiver Trenton Irwin played 24 offensive snaps. 

Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Foster Sarell played three special teams snaps in a 20-17 loss to visiting Dallas on Monday night. 

Denver offensive tackle Cameron Fleming and Houston quarterback Davis Mills did not play.

Pittsburgh offensive guard Nate Herbig had a bye. 

Los Angeles Chargers receiver Simi Fehoko, Arizona tight end Elijah Higgins, Jacksonville offensive lineman Walker Little, and Philadelphia quarterback Tanner McKee were inactive. 

Philadelphia defensive tackle Thomas Booker, Miami cornerback Ethan Bonner, Atlanta tight end Tucker Fisk, Washington receiver Brycen Tremayne, Cincinnati safety Michael Thomas, and Chicago defensive back Kendall Williamson were on practice squads.

Carolina defensive end Henry Anderson was on injured reserve. 

Tight end Kaden Smith was waived from Washington's injured reserve list.
