Stanford Signs Five

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford strengthened its men's swimming and diving programs by signing five to letters of intent. 

Dan Schemmel, the Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming, announced the signing of these individuals to National Letters of Intent: Misha Andriyuk (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS), Finn Harland (Wadestown, New Zealand/Wellington College), Daniel Li (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS), Abram Mueller (Madison, Wis./Madison West HS), and Go Nagaoka (Tokyo, Japan/Sakae Higashi HS).

Misha Andriyuk (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS)

  • Silver medalist in synchro platform at the 2021 Junior Pan American Championships.
  • California state high school diving champion in 2023.
  • Named to the 2022-2023 National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association 1-Meter Diving All America team.
  • Coached by his father, Oleg, who competed for 16 years with the Ukrainian national team and USSR junior team.
  • Competes for Stanford Diving Club.

Finn Harland (Wadestown, New Zealand/Wellington College)

  • Eighth in the 200-meter backstroke at the 2022 Pan Pacific Championships.
  • Broke the New Zealand national age-group record in the 50m back, in 25.67.
  • Earned bronze in the 50 back at the 2023 New Zealand open championships and a gold in the 4x200 free relay.
  • Competed at the 2023 World Junior Championships, placing ninth in the 50 back.
  • Swam for the Capital Swim Club.

Daniel Li (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS)

  • Two-time California state high school champion in the 100-yard breaststroke.
  • California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division II record-holder in the 100 breast.
  • Competes for Rose Bowl Aquatics, the same club of Stanford's Rex Maurer.
  • Top high school 100 breaststroker in the class of '24.
  • Seventh in 100 breast at the 2023 Junior National Championships, reaching 2024 Olympic Trials standard.

Abram Mueller (Madison, Wis./Madison West HS)

  • Broke the Wisconsin high school Division I record in the 100-yard breaststroke winning the state title in 53.20.
  • With a PB of 52.98, was among nation's only two in the class of '24 to break 53 seconds, along with fellow Card recruit Daniel Li. 
  • Competed for Badger Aquatics Club.
  • All-conference volleyball player for Madison West High.
  • Also a strong long-distance freestyler.

Go Nagaoka (Tokyo, Japan/Sakae Higashi HS)

  • Breaststroke and sprint freestyle specialist.
  • Highly ranked in Japan's age-group standings.
  • Best breaststroke times in short course are 29.14/1:00.00/2:09.71.
  • Best breaststroke times in long course are 35.98/1:03.20/2:15.53.
