Aikey Hat Trick Caps Undefeated Regular Season

STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Jasmine Aikey netted a hat trick on Friday night as No. 3 Stanford (15-0-4, 8-0-3 Pac-12) completed an undefeated regular season by way of a 4-0 shutout over California (7-6-6, 4-3-4 Pac-12).

The hat trick was the third multi-goal game of Aikey's career, joining the three at Oregon State on October 23, 2022 and the four-goal game vs. San Jose State in the first round of the 2022 NCAA tournament on November 11, 2022.

Aikey got her night started with a left-footed goal on an assist from Joelle Jung in the 19th minute. Aikey received the pass near the center of the box, spun to her left and unleashed a laser that proved to be the game-winner.

With the Cardinal already leading 2-0, the native of Palo Alto doubled the advantage in a matter of two minutes in the second half. Andrea Kitahata fired a cross in toward the box that was deflected by a Cal defender out toward the top of the box to the waiting foot of Aikey. Stanford's leading goal scorer wasted no time putting it back on frame, slipping her one-timer into the bottom right corner of the net as the clock struck the 58th minute.

Completing the hat trick and running her season goal total to 10 in the 60th minute, Aikey once again received a pass from Jung with her back to goal, spun to her left and fired another left-footed shot across her body to the far post for the score.

Fifth-year player Maya Doms also tallied a goal in the victory, receiving a pass from Allie Montoya in the 31st minute before settling it on her left foot and skipping her shot to the far post and past the dive of Cal goalkeeper Teagan Wy. Wy would finish the game with eight saves.

For Doms, the goal was her second in as many matches and ran her season total to eight.

Senior Ryan Campbell, who was honored alongside fellow seniors Julia Leontini, Catherine Paulson, Sarah Paulson, Mia Watanabe, Astrid Wheeler and Samantha Williams on Senior Night, played the first 81-plus minutes in goal and made six saves to lead the way to the shutout.

With the regular season complete, Stanford will now await the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field on Monday at 1 p.m.
