KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Stanford kicked off the NCAA Championships with second and ninth place finishes in the opening relays.

The Cardinal picked up 52 points on day one for an overall fourth place finish after two events.

Stanford opened up the meet with the 200 medley relay, finishing ninth overall at 1:35.44. Claire Curzan, Allie Raab, Emma Wheal and Amy Tang took second in the heat two, only .02 seconds off this season's best time.

The 800 free relay team of Torri Huske, Taylor Ruck, Lillie Nordmann and Kayla Wilson took silver with a 6:50.77, three seconds faster than the season high.

Day two will continue with the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free with 12 swimmers competing.
