Moving On Up

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Taylor Ruck defended her title in the 200 free on day three of the NCAA Championship which saw Stanford pick up six All-American honors and three honorable mentions. Torri Huske also set a new program record in the 100 fly.
 
The Cardinal move up to third in the standings at 239 points after a successful morning with nine swimmers advancing to the finals.
 
Ruck won the gold in the 200 free for the second year straight, coming in at 1:42.36. The redshirt senior was joined by Kayla Wilson who finished fourth overall (1:42.90) and Morgan Tankersley who finished seventh (1:44.60) in the B final.
 
Freshman Lucy Bell took seventh in the 400 IM with a lifetime best of 4:05.56. Sophomore Sam Tadder finished fourth in the consolation final with a time of 4:07.40 for her first All-American recognition.
 
Huske and Claire Curzan went three-four in a battle for the 100 fly. Taking home the bronze, Huske also set a program record at 48.96, the first Stanford swimmer to record a sub-49 time.
 
Curzan followed up her performance in the 100 fly with a third-place finish in the 100 back, going 50.08. Lucie Nordmann took seventh in the consolation final to add points to the Cardinal's tally.
 
Lauren Burch competed for the Cardinal on the 3-meter, taking 28th overall with a score of 279.70.
 
The 400 medley relay closed off the night, with the team of Curzan, Allie Raab, Huske and Ruck taking fourth at 3:26.10.
 
The NCAA Championships will wrap up on Saturday with the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, and platform.
