Top-25 Pac-12 Matchup with the Bruins in Maples

  • The Cardinal returns home to The Farm for the first time in three weeks Friday, welcoming top-10 opponent UCLA to Maples Pavilion for its second-to-last home meet of the 2024 season.
  • The Friday evening meeting between the Cardinal and the Bruins, the final dual meet with both competitors as members of the Pac-12 Conference, is set for an 5 p.m. PT start and will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks with Jim Watson and JaNay Honest on the call.
  • Stanford women's gymnastics capped off a two-meet road swing with a season-high road score against No. 4 Utah Friday evening, falling 198.075-196.625 to the Utes inside Huntsman Center in the final Pac-12 dual meet meeting between the two opponents. Fifth-year Chloe Widner brought home a share of the beam title with a career-best tying score of 9.975 while junior Brenna Neault won the all-around title with a total of 39.175.
  • Widner became the third Cardinal honored by the conference as the Pac-12 Coaches' Choice when she earned the award for her efforts at No. 4 Utah on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Her career-high tying mark on beam alongside her season-best matching floor performance and top-six bars effort impressed the league's coaches as the fifth year returned to Stanford's beam and floor lineups for the first time since Jan. 21.
  • The future of Stanford women's gymnastics is bright and the current gymnastics produced by the Cardinal is benefitting from Stanford's youth-- the Cardinal's roster boasts 10 underclassmen and 11 routines at Utah were put up by gymnasts in their first or second year on The Farm.  Looking at all other Pac-12 program's most recent competition lineups, the Cardinal leads the Pac(k) (alongside Washington and Arizona) in underclassmen competition routines put up in the last meet:
    • Pac-12 - Underclassmen Routines
      • Stanford- 11 (Feb. 23 at Utah)

All Pac-12 programs rank within the top 26 teams in the nation-- the only other autonomous five conference that can make that claim is the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
  • Stanford ranks 15th in the nation on the uneven bars in week eight, moving up 23 spots from its week 7 standing (43). The Cardinal have shown incredible steadiness on bars throughout the season after its tumultuous season opener, not scoring below a 49.175 on the event throughout the last six meets.
