BERKELEY, Calif. - No.2 Stanford proved to be the class of the field in Sunday's quad meet in Berkeley, scoring a 410.850 to defeat host No. 8 California, No. 5 Nebraska, and No. 15 Air Force.
The fifth-ranked Cornhuskers placed second in the event with a 408.150, followed by Cal's 394.850 and Air Force's 386.800.
Stanford did not field an all-around competitor in Sunday's meet, but it still managed to secure four event titles in the meet.
Asher Hong tallied a pair of event crowns on the day, posting a season-high 14.750 to earn the leading vault score of the afternoon before scoring a title-winning 14.800 on still rings in the final routine of the meet. Mark Berlaga finished second on rings with a 14.400.
J.R. Chou earned his second event title of the season, scoring a 14.200 on parallel bars, finishing just ahead of senior Brandon Nguyen who notched a 14.050.
Fresh off a seventh place all-around effort at the Winter Cup, Jeremy Bischoff paced the field on high bar with a 14.400 for his first event title of the year.
Sam Phillips of Nebraska claimed the all-around crown with a 80.200, while Cal's Tyler Shimizu (floor exercise) and Nebraska's Cooper Giles (pommel horse) rounded out the title winners in Haas Pavilion.
Stanford returns to action on Saturday, March 9 as it travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a road dual meet against Air Force.
