LOS ANGELES – No. 19 Stanford men's tennis bounced back from a Friday loss at UCLA with a victory at USC, defeating the 54th-ranked Trojans, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon. The win is the eighth for Stanford in the last nine matches, and the Cardinal remains atop the Pac-12 table at 6-1 in conference play. Stanford improved to 14-5 overall this season.
The match started with singles due to rain in the forecast, and the Cardinal clinched without doubles contests getting started.
Max Basing gave the Cardinal a 1-0 lead with an efficient 6-1, 6-1 win on court three, while Nishesh Basavareddy doubled the advantage with a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court one. Nico Godsick continued the momentum for Stanford with a 6-1, 6-3 win of his own on court six.
Clinching his first-career match with a win on court four, Kyle Kang posted a 7-6 (5), 6-4 triumph in the fourth position to secure the win.
Stanford has one regular season contest remaining, traveling to rival California on Saturday, April 20. The Cardinal can clinch at least a share of the Pac-12 championship with a win.
