RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Stanford junior Brandy Atuatasi set a personal record by 10 feet to win the women's discus at the Chris Rinne Invitational at the UC Riverside Track Facility on Saturday.

Atuatasi was among three Stanford winners among the throwers in Riverside, joining Sam Liokumovich in the men's discus and Kaiah Fisher in the women's shot put.

Atuatasi came in with a best of 162-3 (49.45 meters) and finished with a lifetime best of 172-9 (52.67m). She trailed Karyssa Owens of UC Riverside (163-7, 49.87m) through five rounds, improving on each of her four legal throws to that point, with a best of 156-11 (47.83m).

But in the sixth and final round, Atuatasi unleashed her winning throw. The distance vaulted her into the Stanford all-time top-10 list, at No. 9, just ahead of Olympic shot putter Jillian Camarena-Williams.

Liokumovich won the men's discus at 159-9 (48.69m), with teammate Garin Gross third with a personal best (143-7, 43.78m). Fisher won the women's shot put at 45-9 ¼ (13.95m).
