Card Cleans Up Conference Awards

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford claimed five end of season awards and six all-conference honors the Pac-12 announced on Tuesday afternoon. 

Madison McPherson was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Annabel Frist was awarded the Draw Specialist of the Year for the second consecutive season, Aliya Polisky was named the Freshman of the Year, Lucy Pearson claimed the Goalkeeper of the Year award and Danielle Spencer was named the conference's Coach of the Year. 

McPherson has been a force for Stanford all over the field, causing 29 turnovers and picking up 39 ground balls, both team high marks. she's also grabbed 32 draw controls this season, the second most on the team and scored one goal and one assist.

Frist has had a record setting season, collecting 126 draw controls to bring her career total to 318, the joint lead for the most in Pac-12 history. She's averaged 10.50 controls per game and recording at least 10 draw controls in eight of 12 games. Her 10.50 controls per game leads the Pac-12 and sits third in the NCAA. Frist has also chipped in 19 goals, eight assists, 19 caused turnovers, and 22 ground balls.

Polisky has been an offensive catalyst all season long, leading Stanford in goals (43) and points (59). She's tallied three game winning goals and scored on nine of her 12 free position shots. Her goal total sits in a tie for third place in the conference and her point total has her fourth in the Pac-12.

Pearson has been the most effective goalkeeper in the conference, owning the Pac-12's best save percentage (0.474). She has the most wins (11) and the second best winning percentage (0.733) in the conference, allowing just 113 goals against 102 saves.

The Paul A. Violich Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Danielle Spencer has engineered a return to the top of the Pac-12 for Stanford after missing out on the regular season title a year ago. Stanford has now won three of the last four Pac-12 regular season titles (2021, 2022, 2024). Spencer has guided Stanford to the top of the NCAA statistics rankings, with the Cardinal ranking first in the nation in shots per game (37.60), seventh in caused turnovers per game (10.80), fourth in ground balls per game (22.40), fifth in shots on goal per game (26.07), ninth in scoring margin (6.87), 10th in scoring defense (8.40), and 10th in save percentage (0.479).

In addition to the end of season awards, Frist, McPherson, Polisky, Pearson, and Jay Browne were named All-Pac-12 First Team selections and Jordyn Case was named an All-Pac-12 Second Team selection.
