THE STANFORD TANDEM of diver Jack Ryan and coach Patrick Jeffrey were honored by the Pac-12 Thursday as the conference's Men's Diver of the Year and Men's Diving Coach of the Year.
Ryan, a Stanford junior, swept the springboard competitions at the Pac-12 Championships and repeated that feat at the Zone E Championships that acted as a qualifier for the NCAA Championships. There, Ryan captured fourth in the 1-meter in Indianapolis and third in the 1-meter.
Ryan scored 434.35 in the 1-meter at the Pac-12 Championships and 474.05 in the 3-meter. His two victories earned him his first Pac-12 Diver of the Meet honor.
At the NCAA's, Ryan earned his second and third career NCAA podium finishes. His 3-meter final score of 444.20 and third place marked the conference's sole podium diver and the Cardinal's sole podium finisher. Ryan also scored 402.55 at 1-meter to earn first-team All-American honors in each event.
This is Ryan's first conference Diver of the Year award after being named Freshman of the Year in 2022. He is the first Cardinal to receive the Diver of the Year honor since Noah Vigran in 2019.
For the third time in his career, Jeffrey earned Pac-12 diving coach honors. The Cardinal scored a combined 68 points at the Pac-12 Championships, with Ryan and Hunter Hollenbeck, an NCAA qualifier at 3-meters. Hollenbeck placed seventh in both springboard events at Pac-12s.
