WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Stanford men's rowing team won two races at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Saturday at Mercer Lake and race in two finals on Sunday.
The Cardinal second varsity eight cruised to victory in the CD semifinals and the fours won the D final to finish in 19th overall.
In the first varsity eights, Stanford was sixth in second heat of the AB semifinals and will race in the B final on Sunday at 7:50 a.m.
The Cardinal 4+ had raced in only two regattas before the IRA's, but closed out nationals by winning its final two races. The Stanford boat, with Callen Berwick in the stroke seat and Noah Tan at coxswain, won the DF semifinal Friday and then the D race by 2.6 seconds over runner-up La Salle. It was Stanford's best IRA finish in that event since 2021.
Stanford's 2V8 found its groove early and beat runner-up Georgetown by 3.6 seconds. Stanford, with Arthur Scott at stroke and Kannan Alford at coxswain, was clocked in 5:49.950. Stanford races in Sunday's C final at 6 a.m. PT.
The Cardinal 1V8 finished its semifinal in 5:44.054 and will race in Lane 6 for the B final against Boston U., Brown, Dartmouth, Northeastern, and Penn.
