Lights Open Season at Head of the Charles

Stanford is coming off a second-place finish at IRA National Championships in June

STANFORD, Calif. - The Cardinal lights will be on the water this weekend for the first time since finishing second at June's IRA National Championships. The Stanford Varsity 8+ will be competing at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday in Boston.

Stanford will be bow No. 7 and begin at 11:37 p.m. PT on Sunday.


Back to Boston » The Card returns to Boston after the fours won at last year's regatta. Stanford led wire to wire to secure the City of Cambrdge Trophy for the first time in program history. 

Resurgence at IRAs » Stanford's varsity 4+ boat took home a national championship in June, part of a Cardinal effort that finished second in the Commissioner's Cup standings at the IRA Championships. Four of the five members of the 4+ boat return for the 2024-25 season.

All-American Returner » Sophomore Grace Padula is back after a breakout fall campaign, earning CRCA All-American honors in her first season on The Farm.

Year Two for Houston » Lizzy Houston enters her second season at the helm of the Cardinal lights, looking to build on last season's success. Stanford came within a point of Princeton for the top spot in fall's Commissioner's Cup standings.
