Jaylen Blakes scored the game-winning jumper with less than two seconds to play, and Stanford men’s basketball rolled out of the Dean Smith Center with a 72-71 victory over North Carolina. The Cardinal improves to 12-6 this season with a 4-3 mark in the ACC.

No. 1 Stanford men's gymnastics won the Rocky Mountain Open in dramatic fashion on Saturday evening, overcoming a 1.750-point deficit in the final rotation to secure the victory. 

The Cardinal paced the field with a 328.850 team score, followed by No. 2 Oklahoma (327.200), No. 5 Nebraska (327.200), No. 11 Air Force (311.550), and No. 15 Simpson (291.150).

The No. 5 Cardinal put on a show in front of a home crowd, taking down No. 6 Virginia on The Farm to move to a perfect 4-0 on the season. The win was the Card’s first home win since 2020, and first home game since January 2023.

The Cardinal jumped out early with wins from Riya NavaniYuvna Gupta and Maeve Baker to take a 3-0 lead. Navani, playing on the 1s court as a freshman, is now 4-1 to start the season. Gupta and Baker each move to a perfect 4-0 on the year.

Inaugural ACC Dual Meet Victory

      

For the first time since the 2015 season, Stanford women’s gymnastics recorded a team meet total of 197.000-or-better in the month of January as the No. 18 Cardinal took down the No. 21 NC State Wolfpack 197.025-195.925 in its inaugural ACC dual meet inside Maples Pavilion.

Junior Anna Roberts shined with a career-best all-around total of 39.650, led by event titles on bars and floor. Senior Brenna Neault won the beam title with a career-best matching score of 9.950 and earned a season-best all-around score of 39.400. Sophomore Sienna Robinson won the first event title of her collegiate career with her career-best 9.925 on floor.

No. 2 Stanford opened its 2025 campaign on Saturday with a pair of victories at Fresno State’s Polopalooza, defeating No. 12 UC San Diego 15-4 and No. 5 Hawai’i 12-7.

Stanford (2-0, 0-0 MPSF) produced dominant stretches in both games, thanks to arguably the deepest roster in the country. The Cardinal received goals from 11 different players through the two games combined.

Season-Opening Sweep

                 

No. 3 Stanford opened its spring schedule with a 7-0 rout of UC Davis on Thursday.

The win was the first for Peter and Helen Bing Director of Women’s Tennis Frankie Brennan and was Stanford’s eighth consecutive 7-0 scoreline against UC Davis. The match was played at the West Campus Courts due to ongoing construction at Taube Pavilion.

Cardinal Wins a pair in Austin

      

No. 11 Stanford opened the First Point Collegiate Challenge with a 25-19, 25-14, 25-20 sweep over No. 13 Ohio State, Friday, at the Austin Convention Center.

Stanford (2-1) hit .246 as a team and recorded 11 aces and 12.0 blocks – both season-highs. The Cardinal held the Buckeyes (2-3) to a -.081 attack percentage, the lowest by an opponent this season.


Led by Theo Snoey, No. 11 Stanford defeated No. 14 Penn State, 23-25, 30-28, 25-20, 25-19, Saturday, to close out the First Point Collegiate Challenge at the Austin Convention Center.

Stanford (3-1) hit .242 as a team, while holding Penn State (0-4) to a .139 clip. The Cardinal finished with 42 kills, 9.0 blocks, 37 digs and six aces. It was the first time Stanford played more than three sets in a match this season.

Freshman EJ Parco's late-match heroics helped lead No. 17 Stanford to its first dual win over Arizona State since 2019, defeating the Sun Devils 24-18, Sunday, in front of more than 800 fans in Maples Pavilion.

Stanford produced several strong performances on Saturday afternoon in its season opener, edging defending national champion Incarnate Word 63-54 at Avery Aquatic Center.

Competing in the first of three home events this season, the Cardinal received balanced efforts across the board in a shortened meet that did not include full routines.

No. 17 Stanford men’s tennis opened the spring slate on a high note, downing Bay Area foe Saint Mary’s in shutout fashion, 7-0. The Cardinal won its spring opener for the 17th straight season, and it improves to 13-0 all-time against the Gaels.

The Cardinal had a dominant showing in doubles, dropping just two combined points over three matches. The pairs of Nathan Barki and Alex Razeghi and Max Basing and Henry von der Schulenburg each posted 6-0 victories while the duo of Samir Banerjee and Nico Godsick won 6-2 in the top position.

Both men's and women's swimming & diving had another impressive display at Avery Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon, winning 28 of 32 events en route to victories over USC.

Racing on the track for the first time since the Paris Olympics, Stanford junior Juliette Whittaker was the top collegiate finisher in the women’s invitational mile at the UW Indoor Preview/Mile City meet on Saturday.

Whittaker and sophomore teammate Sophia Kennedy placed fourth and fifth with stellar times on the 307-meter track at Dempsey Indoor. Whittaker clocked 4:31.72 and Kennedy in a big personal record of 4:32.47.

Until Saturday, Kennedy’s best mile was 4:43.09. She destroyed that and moved to No. 4 on Stanford’s all-time indoor list, trailing only Whittaker, Olympian Elise Cranny, and school 1,500 record-holder Julia Heymach.

For the men, Thomas Boyden and Cole Sprout each cracked the four-minute barrier. Boyden was eighth in the invitational mile in 3:57.35 and Sprout was ninth in 3:57.64. This was the third sub-4 each for Boyden and Sprout. 

The Stanford men’s swimming team closed out the four-day SMU Invitational by sweeping all six races on Saturday at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center.

In the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, Stanford earned its fourth NCAA relay A cut of the meet. The team of Andres Dupont CabreraAndrei MinakovRafael Gu, and Henry McFadden clocked 2:47.89 to beat the A standard of 2:49.79. Stanford now has A cuts in every relay event.

Stanford swimmers earned eight personal bests Saturday and 28 NCAA B cut times. In addition, there were three additions or improvements to the team’s all-time Top 15 list.
