The start to the 2025 season, delayed by a day due to poor field conditions on Friday, was well worth the wait as Stanford (2-0) swept a doubleheader with Cal State Fullerton (0-2) on Saturday behind an offensive explosion and strong starts from Cardinal pitchers.
Stanford scored early and often, plating 19 combined runs on 23 hits over the two games. The Cardinal managed three-plus runs in three of the seven innings played in game one – a 13-1 run-rule victory.
Led by three-hit games from Rintaro Sasaki, Brady Reynolds, Temo Becerra and Tatum Marsh, Stanford (3-0) won a 14-11 slugfest over Cal State Fullerton (0-3) on Sunday from Goodwin Field.
Reynolds and Marsh each homered, with Marsh’s blast helping him finish a single short of the cycle. Senior Charlie Saum also connected for a round-tripper to mark the first three homers of the year for Stanford.
Trailing 7-3 headed to the ninth inning, Stanford (4-0) scored four in the ninth and two in the 10th to earn a 9-7 victory over Cal State Fullerton (0-4) on Monday afternoon from Goodwin Field.
The win completed a four-game road sweep of the Titans by Stanford.
