Men’s Tennis Wins ACC Championship

No. 8 Stanford men’s tennis won the ACC Championship in its first season in the conference, defeating No. 6 Virginia, 4-2, at Cary Tennis Park. The Cardinal improves to 22-5 this season, matching its most wins since 2018, while Max Basing, who clinched all three matches in the tournament for the Cardinal, was named the ACC Championships Most Valuable Player.

The Cardinal came from behind for the second match in a row, as Virginia, the No. 5 seed, earned the doubles point. Stanford split the matches on courts one and two, setting up the deciding match on court three. Nico Godsick and Hudson Rivera earned a top-30 win at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, but the Cavaliers won on court three to take the early lead.

Stanford put itself in a position to win early, taking four first sets. The first Cardinal point came at No. 1 singles, as Samir Banerjee defeated the No. 6 player in the country by default, 3-6, 5-3 def., to tie the match. Shortly thereafter, Alex Razeghi gave the Cardinal a lead it would not relinquish, taking a 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory on court five. The wins were the 13th and 15th of the year, respectively, for Banerjee and Razeghi.

13,207 Fill Stanford Stadium to Break NCAA Softball Record

In one of the most highly anticipated gameday environments for any Stanford sport in recent memory, Cardinal fans delivered. Saturday’s Big Swing crowd of 13,207 at Stanford Stadium set an NCAA single-game attendance record, surpassing previous bests of 12,566 on May 30, 2024 (Women’s College World Series session 2) and the regular-season mark of 9,259 on April 9, 2025 (Oklahoma State at Oklahoma).

With renovation of Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium in progress, the Cardinal has been playing its home games at Stanford Stadium for the 2025 campaign. Stanford, which is now 19-3 at home, has featured five crowds of at least 1,000 this season.

WGOLF Revuelta Wins 2025 ACC Championship from 4-17-25

Freshman Conference Champion

The final round of stroke play at the 2025 ACC Championship took place on Thursday afternoon at Sedgefield Country Club. More Stanford magic took place, as it seemingly has all season long. The Cardinal held onto the top spot as a team, earning the top seed and a first-round bye in match play, but freshman Andrea Revuelta was able to survive a battle atop the leaderboard to become the individual ACC champion.

Stanford made its mark on the ACC record book during the stroke play portion of the tournament, tying the ACC record with a team score of 837 (-27). The record was previously set by Virginia in 2015, when there was no match play portion of the tournament. No. 3 Florida State was the next closest team, finishing at 12-under. Stanford’s 12-under in the final round was the lowest round of the entire tournament.

Revuelta joins an elite list of Cardinal who have won conference championships: Mhairi McKay, Rachel Heck, and most recently, Rose Zhang. She joins Heck as the only freshmen to win an individual conference championship and becomes the first Cardinal to score her first career win in a conference championship.

Stanford freshman Xavier Drumgoole announced his emergence as a elite collegiate performer by winning the Mt. SAC Relays elite invitational triple jump on Saturday.

Drumgoole, from Round Rock, Texas, opened with a jump of 51-4 ¼ (15.65 meters) and that held up as the winner. His next jump, 51-3 ¾ (15.64), was nearly as far and also would have won the competition.

Stanford completed the conference sweep this past weekend, winning the PCCSC Open Fleet Race Championship on Sunday in a regatta that came down to the final race.

The Cardinal won five races across both divisions over the weekend to win the event with 60 team points, just three points ahead of runner-up UC Santa Barbara (63) and eight points over third-place Hawai'i (68).

"The team battled it out against two very good UCSB and Hawai'i teams, with the regatta going down to the last race," assistant coach Shawn Harvey said. "It was unique to see this college sailing have a one-sided race course, and the team learned a lot about strategy relating to such a course."

Spring Ball 2025 – Week 3

The penultimate week of spring ball wrapped up just prior to the Easter holiday for the Stanford Cardinal. Three weeks into the Frank Reich era, it is clear to see that this team has improved from where it was during the first practice to where it is after 11 practices.

A notable occurrence this week was the first practice with full pads, which only cranked up the intensity a few more notches. Several times over the course of the week, Coach Reich complimented his players on the physicality of practice, noting how the energy levels mirrored that of a professional practice.

Someone who might know a thing or two about professional practices is former Cardinal great Zach Ertz, who made his way to The Farm to catch up with his former offensive coordinator (Coach Reich) from their time in Philadelphia together. The two won Super Bowl LII together, with Ertz catching the winning touchdown from Nick Foles, helping Philadelphia win the first Super Bowl in franchise history.

There are a bevy of fresh faces on The Farm this spring, with the Cardinal hitting the transfer portal to bring in 11 newcomers. Eight of those are already here with the team: six of them arrived in the winter, while two more came this spring.
