No. 1 Stanford Takes on 2025 NCAA Championships

No. 1 Stanford will compete as the top seed in all three boat classes at the 2025 NCAA Championships regatta May 30 through June 1 in West Windsor, N.J. held at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.

  • No. 1 Stanford women's rowing takes on 21 of the nation's best Friday-Sunday, May 30-June 1, when action gets underway at the 2025 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships. The 22-team event will be held at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. with Princeton National Rowing Association, the MAAC and Ivy Leagues acting as hosts.

  • LAST TIME OUT  »  No. 1 Stanford captured its fourth consecutive conference title on Saturday, sweeping the 2025 ACC Women’s Rowing Championship held on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C. The Cardinal became the first ACC team since 2021 to sweep all championship regatta races. Stanford led the way with 132 points and was joined on the podium by No. 13 Virginia with 106 points and No. 11 Syracuse with 104 points. No. 9 California earned fourth place with 102 points, while No. 18 Duke (89 points), No. 24 North Carolina (68 points), Clemson (67 points), SMU (50 points), Notre Dame (50 points), Louisville (39 points), Miami (34 points), and Boston College (17 points) rounded out the standings. Stanford’s championship run featured record-setting performances in four events: the first varsity four, second varsity four, first varsity eight, and second varsity eight. In each of these races, no competitor finished within five seconds of Stanford's winning time.
  • AWARDS GALORE » Following their dominant performance at the 2025 ACC Championship, Stanford’s varsity eight crew was named ACC Crew of the Year. Sarah Marriott earned ACC Newcomer of the Year while  Farwell Family Director of Women’s Rowing Derek Byrnes was named ACC Coach of the Year. Seniors Luise Bachmann, Iris Klok, and sophomores Célia Dupré and Honor Warburg were named to the All-ACC First Team, while junior Alice Baker earned All-ACC Second Team honors.
  • FAMILIAR TERRITORY » No. 1 Stanford makes its 16th consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships. While competing in the national championship regatta is familiar to the Cardinal, the program enters as the top boat in each racing category for the 2025 championships, the only team at the regatta that has all of its boats ranked as a top-three seed. 
  • YEAR IN REVIEW » Stanford's 2025 spring regular season has been one of its most dominant in recent history. All NCAA Championship boats have gone undefeated throughout the 2025 campaign with wins secured over (at the time of racing) No. 1 Texas, No. 3 Tennessee, No. 9 California, No. 10 Virginia, No. 11 Syracuse, No. 18 Duke, No. 22 Clemson, and No. 24 North Carolina. The Cardinal's wins have all come with at least two-second margins of victory.   
  • FALL RACING RECAP » Stanford Women’s Rowing closed its fall racing schedule Sunday morning, sending 10 boats to compete at the annual San Diego Fall Classic on Mission Bay in San Diego. Stanford sent four eights boats: “No Name”, “Elle Logan”, “Sam Magee”, and “Attacker”, five fours boats: “Thunderdome”, “Wild Card”, “Amigos”, “IB”, and “Academic Weapon”, and one quad boat.
    • The Cardinal’s four eights boats earned four of the top six finishes in the Women’s Open 8+ race, with “No Name” finishing first, "Elle Logan" second, "Sam Magee" third, and "Attacker" placing sixth. Stanford bested crews from UC Irvine, Cal Poly, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of San Diego. Stanford’s quad boat placed first in the Women’s Masters 4x race, topping crews from Rio Salado Rowing Club, Newport Aquatic Center, Channel Islands Rowing Club, San Diego Rowing Club and Community Rowing of San Diego. The day ended with the Cardinal’s five fours boats recording the top five finishes in the Women’s Open 4+. “Thunderdome” placed first, followed by "Amigos", "Wild Card", "Academic Weapon" and "IB" with the second, third, fourth and fifth-place finishes, respectively.
