Card Essentials: Trevor Haskins

The senior shares his everyday essentials ahead of the final home series of the regular season

Welcome to the latest installment of Card Essentials, where Stanford student-athletes share the stories behind the items they carry every day, big or small. We caught up with Trevor Haskins, a senior on the Stanford Baseball team, as the team wraps up conference play. Haskins is having a great senior season, hitting .344 with 12 HR and 39 RBI. Trevor took some time to tell us about some of his essential items and what each item means to him.

GoStanford.com: "Kimchi isn’t a typical go-to for most student-athletes, what makes it one of your must-have essentials?"

Trevor Haskins: "I love kimchi. I grew up on this. The best kimchi I've ever had in my life is my grandma’s, and she makes it often, so I was spoiled growing up. I wish I had some with me right now. I legitimately eat kimchi every day. Kimchi is second to none for me."

GS: "What’s the story behind Double Stuf Oreos?"

TH: "This is my dessert snack, midnight snack, whatever you want to call it. From the time that I could walk, I've always loved double-stuffed Oreos. Double Stuf specifically. Regular Oreos are fine, whatever flavor is fine, but Double Stuf Oreos are especially my deal."

GS: "We see the cologne there... are you a big scent guy?"

TH: "This one is a YSL, I believe it's pronounced L'Homme? I love cologne, I'm a big scent guy. I always have candles burning or some type of scent going on in my room. I would classify myself as a cologne connoisseur. I wear this cologne every day."

GS: "How does keeping a family photo close keep you grounded?"

TH: “The most important item on the list is a photo of my family. I didn’t have any physical photos with me, so I printed this one out. This is our Christmas card this year. They’re my rock and my support group, they’re my best friends. I wouldn’t have any of the luxuries I have in life today, and I wouldn’t be in the position that I am without my family. I love them very much."

GS: “We see the chains and the earrings. Talk us through your go-to jewelry choices.”

TH: “These necklaces are both staple pieces that I got in high school. First, we have the Jesus piece, and then the Figaro chain. I also have my earrings in right now and my bracelet on. I do love jewelry. These are the pieces that I wear every day."

GS: "We see the skincare essentials here, talk us through your routine.”

TH: “There's a five-step routine that I have. I only have my moisturizer and hyaluronic acid serum here with me. They're both Korean skin-care products. As of recently, maybe the past month or so, I've gotten deep into Korean skin care. I use both of these every day."

GS: “Always good to see a book in the essentials. What is this one about?”

TH: “This is Mastering Bitcoin. I just started this, only about 30 pages in. I normally have a Bitcoin magazine, that's what I typically love to read. I don't have any of those with me on campus at the moment, so I'm reading Mastering Bitcoin instead. So far, so good!"
