STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford came up just short in its bid for a historic sixth consecutive national title, finishing the season as the national runner-up at the 2025 NCAA Championships.
The second-place finish marked the 16th time in head coach Thom Glielmi’s 23 seasons that the Cardinal has placed inside the top three, further cementing Stanford’s status as one of the nation's elite men's gymnastics programs.
NATIONAL RUNNER-UP
The Cardinal posted a season-best score of 332.061 to finish second at the NCAA Championships, finishing less than two-tenths behind Michigan, which claimed the national title with a 332.224.
It was the first time since 2018 that the NCAA team trophy did not return to The Farm, as Stanford aimed to become the first men’s gymnastics program to win six straight NCAA championships.
Nothing but love for this team ❤️

Consistently one of the nation's top performers, Modi collected 16 CGA National Gymnast of the Week honors during his career.
CARDINAL BOLSTERS COACHING STAFF
Ahead the 2025 season, head coach Thom Glielmi bolstered the coaching staff with the additions of Carlos Hernandez-Ojeda and Mitchell Soukup.
Hernandez-Ojeda, a 2022 Texas A&M graduate and former NAIGC gymnast, joined the program after serving as Men’s Gymnastics Program Director at Extreme Texas Gymnastics. He also previously coached at Cypress Academy, working with former Stanford stars Brody Malone, Akash Modi, and Brandon Briones during their U.S. national team preparation.
Soukup, a 2017 Minnesota graduate, brought seven years of club coaching experience to The Farm. Most recently, he served as a Competitive Team Coach at Omega Gymnastics in Oregon (2022–24), with prior stops at Alamo Gymnastics in Texas (2019–22) and Classic Gymnastics in Minnesota (2017–19).
