It's only been a week. But even in that short amount of time, it's easy to see why John Donahoe is a great fit for The Farm.

Throughout a jam-packed first seven days that included daily interactions with student-athletes, coaches, staff and University personnel, Donahoe emphatically communicated his vision for the nation's most successful athletics department.

Meeting for the first time since 2012, No 4 Stanford swept Hawaii, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20, Friday, at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (7-2) hit .262 while holding Hawaii (4-5) to a .179 clip. The Cardinal finished with a season-high 64 digs, three aces and 4.0 blocks. It was Stanford’s first win over Hawaii at home since 1997.

Senior Elia Rubin led all players with 16 kills on .382 hitting and 13 digs for her team-best third double-double of the year. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew registered a career-high 12 kills on a season-best .647 attack percentage.

Hitting a season-high .422 as a team, No. 4 Stanford swept Texas State, 25-20, 25-15, 25-18, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal (8-2) won its 18th straight match at home dating back to last season, dropping just three sets during that streak. Saturday was the first meeting between Stanford and Texas State (4-6).

Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew registered a match-high 10 kills on .562 hitting and three blocks to lead Stanford. Outside hitter Julia Blyashov added nine kills, matching her career-high with a .389 attack percentage.

Setter Logan Parks controlled the offense with 36 assists. The freshman also recorded four kills, three digs, a block and an ace. Libero Spencer Etzler collected seven digs and an assist.

Led by Erika Sayer and Jordyn Harvey, No. 4 Stanford defeated UCLA, 25-18, 21-25, 25-8, 25-16, Sunday, in Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (9-2) hit .310 as a team, totaling 53 kills, nine aces, 46 digs and 9.0 blocks. UCLA (6-4) was held to .113 hitting, its second-lowest output of the season.

Sayer registered a match-high 13 kills on .611 hitting and a team-best five blocks. Harvey notched her third double-double of the year with 10 kills and 10 digs. The junior hit .429, tallied three blocks and put down a season-high four aces.

Hosting its first ACC match in front of a strong Cagan Stadium crowd, No. 3 Stanford earned a convincing 3-1 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday evening. 

The Cardinal (7-1-1) controlled the contest from wire to wire to improve to 2-1-0 in conference play, while Virginia Tech (2-2-3) extended its winless streak to five games in the losing effort.

"It was a phenomenal performance," said Knowles Family Director of Men's Soccer Jeremy Gunn. "We came out with such a great purpose, and I thought we were irrepressible at times. [Virginia Tech] has such great soccer players, and I can't speak highly enough of their team, so I'm really proud of how well we handled them tonight."

The No. 4 Cardinal moved to 6-0 on the season with another dominant defensive showing, smothering No. 15 Santa Clara to win 19-7 at day one of the Overnght MPSF Invitational.

Botond Balogh and Ben Forer led the way offensively, each posting hat tricks. Balogh dished out four assists as well to lead the Cardinal with seven points.

The No. 4 Cardinal topped No. 7 Long Beach State in overtime Saturday.

The Card fell behind early, trailing 5-2 after the first period and 7-6 at halftime. A big third period put Stanford ahead 11-8 heading into the fourth, but Long Beach was able to rally and send the game into overtime at 13-13.

Six goals in overtime gave Stanford the win, sending the team to the afternoon’s semifinal against No. 1 UCLA. West Temkin made a season-high 12 saves in the win, while the Cardinal offense saw massive performances from Ben Forer (six goals), Gianpiero Di Martire (four goals) and Max Zelikov (four goals).
