MPSF Play Starts Saturday

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 4 Stanford Cardinal opens MPSF play this weekend, hosting No. 3 USC on Saturday and No. 1 UCLA on Sunday.

Last season, the Cardinal went 4-2 in MPSF play. At Avery Aquatics Center, Stanford went 2-1 with wins over USC and California. Now, the Cardinal enters 8-2 on the season.

Two weekends ago, Stanford fell to UCLA and USC at the MPSF Invitational, with the loss to the Trojans taking overtime.

VET IN THE CAGE » Temkin returns in the cage after a Second Team All-America and First Team All-MPSF season in 2024. The senior stopped 16 shots in the overtime loss to USC two weekends ago, and boasts 87 saves in 10 games this season.

NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP » The sophomore class has been key to the Cardinal's success in 2025, accounting for four of the top five point contributors on the team. Botond Balogh has been dominant to start the season, leading the team in points (50), goals (31) and assists (19). Fellow sophomores Ben Forer (23) and Max Zelikov (22) are right behind him for the team goal lead.

MPSF HONORS » Botond Balogh earned MPSF Player of the Week honors on Monday, after scoring nine goals in the weekend's two games.

STRONG INTRODUCTION » Transfer Gianpiero Di Martire has made a strong introduction, second on the team in points with 41 (27 goals, 14 assists).

SUMMER ABROAD » Ohl and junior Alex Gheorghe each competed at the World Aquatics World Championships in Croatia this summer. Ohl represented the US, while Gheorghe competed for Romania.
