ITA National Team Indoors Spot Secured

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 3 Stanford blanked Rice 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Arrillaga Tennis Center-Taube Pavilion, booking a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships (Feb. 13-17).

Stanford (4-0, 0-0 ACC) claimed a hard-fought doubles point before three straight-set wins, highlighted by Alex Chang’s 6-1, 7-6 (4) clincher at the No. 2 spot.

Notching its second shutout of the season, the Cardinal entered the week with its highest ranking since March 27, 2018. Following a 4-1 win over Utah on Friday, Stanford is back in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, where it reached the semifinals in 2025.

Stanford has also now won 28 straight matches on The Farm since its last home loss back on April 7, 2023. 

Doubles proved to be pivotal, with the Cardinal’s top team of Chang and Hudson Rivera delivering a 7-5 victory to secure the point.

Jagger Leach (6-0, 6-1) and Alex Razeghi (6-1, 6-3) then moved Stanford closer to clinching with straight-set wins.

Chang made it official with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) victory at the No. 1 spot.

Stanford’s six-match homestand to open the season resumes on Saturday, Jan. 31, against UCLA at 12 p.m.
