ACC Action Arrives

No. 12 Stanford men's tennis opens conference action at North Carolina and No. 50 Duke.

  • The ACC season has arrived for No. 12 Stanford men's tennis. The Cardinal opens the conference slate on Friday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. PT at North Carolina and continues on the road on Sunday, March 1 at 9 a.m. at Duke.
  • Stanford enters the weekend with a 7-3 overall record, recently completing action at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, where it went 1-2 overall with three 4-3 battles. Stanford beat No. 22 Arizona State for its third ranked win of the season - each against a former Pac-12 foe.
  • The Cardinal enters the match ranked No. 12 in the country in the newly-debuted ITA computer rankings, dropping from No. 4 in the final coaches poll on Feb. 4 and a season-high No. 3 in the Jan. 28 rankings, which was the program's highest ranking since March 27, 2018. Two players were ranked in the updated singles rankings: Hudson Rivera (48) and Alex Chang (92), and, the Cardinal has three ranked doubles pairs: Chang/Alex Razeghi (8), Mark Krupkin/Rivera (38) and Nico Godsick/Rivera (50).
  • Alex Chang leads the team with 11 singles wins this season, and has clinched three of the seven victories, while Alex Razeghi ranks second with 10 singles victories and Jagger Leach has seven. The tandem of Chang and Razeghi paces the Cardinal with nine doubles wins while the duos of Hudson Rivera and Nico Godsick and Mark Krupkin and Jagger Leach have posted three. Chang and Razeghi also reached the round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championship in November.
  • After a strong performance at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, Alex Chang and Alex Razeghi were crowned the ACC Doubles Team of the Week on Feb. 19. The duo went 3-0 in doubles at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with two wins over top-10 teams. Additionally, they were named to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships All-Tournament Team at No. 1 Doubles.
  • Jagger Leach was named ACC Rookie of the Week on Feb. 3 for the second time this season for his performance in the two matches. Leach is out to a 5-1 start in singles this spring.
  • Entering ITAs, Stanford swept a pair of ranked opponents in No. 14 UCLA (4-2) and No. 22 USC (4-1) but fell on the road to No. 24 Pepperdine, 4-0. The prior week, Stanford hosted ITA Kickoff Weekend from Jan. 23-24, defeating Utah (4-1) and Rice (4-0) to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
  • Stanford holds a 3-0 all-time mark against North Carolina and a 9-2 mark against Duke. In the first season as ACC foes, the Cardinal posted a 4-0 victory against the Tar Heels and a 4-0 victory over the Blue Devils on the Farm, and it added a 4-2 victory over Duke in the ACC semifinals en route to teh tournament championship.
  • The Cardinal finished a remarkable season in 2024-25, going 26-6 overall while winning an ACC Championship in its first season in the conference and advancing to the national semifinals of the NCAA Championships and the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
  • Stanford returns seven players from last season's roster, including ITA All-American Samir Banerjee and four additional players that won at last nine singles matches last season. The Cardinal added a trio of strong newcomers in Jagger Leach, the top-rated recruit in the country per Tennis Recruiting Network, five-star signee Mark Krupkin and California transfer Alex Chang, who was an All-Pac-12 second team honoree for the Golden Bears in 2024.
  • The Cardinal has had success on the professional level, notably with Nishesh BasavareddyTristan Boyer and Arthur Fery in recent years. All three have earned grand slam wins, including second round Australian Open appearances in 2026 from Basavareddy and Fery. Boyer has reached the second round of the US Open and the Australian Open, while Fery also reached the second round in singles at Wimbledon in 2025, beating the world No. 20 player Alexei Popyrin, and the third round in doubles at Wimbledon in 2024.
  • Stanford's current student-athletes have also seen widespread success in ITF Futures and ATP Challenger tournaments, with the program earning 12 ITF futures championships in the summer of 2025, including eight titles from returning players.
  • Paul Goldstein is in his 12th season as the Taube Family Director of Men's Tennis. Goldstein’s teams have posted a 199-82 record with a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Championships in each of his seasons at the helm.
