MALIBU, Calif. – No. 4 Stanford men’s tennis suffered its first defeat of the 2026 campaign, falling on the road at No. 24 Pepperdine, 4-0. The Cardinal drops to 6-1 on the season entering the ITA National Team Indoor Championships next week.
Pepperdine led early in doubles with wins on courts one and three, while the duo of Nico Godsick and Hudson Rivera held the lead but ended with an abandoned match.
A rematch from last season’s round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament, the Waves continued the strong play with three consecutive singles wins to clinch the match. After earning wins on courts one and six, Pepperdine was able to clinch the match on court four.
The Cardinal drops to 31-10 all-time against Pepperdine with the result.
Stanford returns to action starting Feb. 13 in Dallas, Texas at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The Cardinal’s opening round matchup will be announced at a later date.
