DAVIS, Calif. – Kamryn Barone’s game-high four goals led another balanced scoring attack as No. 1 Stanford overwhelmed No. 16 UC Davis 20-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Returning to the pool for the first time in two weeks, Stanford (3-0, 0-0 MPSF) showed little signs of rust and scored five goals in each period to reach the 20-goal mark for the third straight game.
Saturday’s matchup was the second of the season against UC Davis (5-6, 0-0 Big West), as the Cardinal also defeated the Aggies 20-7 in its season opener back on Jan. 18.
Barone was one of 11 different players to find the net for Stanford, which also received hat tricks from Juliette Dhalluin and Sienna Green. Natalia Szczerba finished with three assists.
The Cardinal held a slim 28-22 advantage in shot attempts but cashed in on power play chances, converting five of its nine opportunities.
After UC Davis scored the first goal of the game, Stanford ripped off five straight and took a 5-1 lead into the second quarter following a goal from Avery Montiel with 14 seconds left.
Ella Woodhead’s score with six seconds before halftime put the Cardinal in front 10-2.
The Aggies trimmed the deficit to 12-3 at the 5:23 mark of the third quarter before Stanford delivered the game’s final eight goals.
Jenna Flynn, who had scored 11 goals combined over Stanford’s first two games, contributed one goal and one assist.
