STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford’s 3V8 earned accolades as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Crew of the Week for its performance at the season-opening Redwood Shores Invitational.
The Cardinal’s 3V8 beat Santa Clara, finishing the 2,000-meter Belmont Channel/Redwood Shores Lagoon course in 5:46.8 to pick up a win a long time coming. It was the first time the Cardinal had raced a third varsity since the IRA National Championships in 2019.
Stanford had been unable to field three eights due to the sport discontinuation during COVID, so Saturday was the first time in nearly seven years the Cardinal had a full team on the water. It was the first win for a Stanford 3V8 since beating Oregon State on the first day of the Pac-12 Challenge on April 6, 2019.
