LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 23 Stanford men’s tennis capped its weekend on the road in winning fashion, defeating No. 50 Louisville, 4-1. Stanford improves to 12-6 overall and 5-3 in the ACC.
Stanford earned the doubles point with wins on the top two courts. The ranked duo of Nico Godsick and Hudson Rivera provided the first win on court two, 6-3, but Louisville responded with a victory on court three. The sixth-ranked duo of Alex Chang and Alex Razeghi clinched the advantage on court one in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (4).
Needing three matches to clinch the result, the Cardinal took five first sets to begin singles. Louisville leveled the match at 1-1 with a win on court one, but Stanford responded with victories in quick succession from Alex Razeghi on court two and Jagger Leach on court six, each by a 6-3, 7-5 scoreline. The win is the team-leading 16th of the year for Razeghi, who improves to 13-0 in dual play, and the 11th for Leach, all in dual matches.
Rivera clinched the win on court five, 6-1, 7-6 (6), for his second clinching point of the season.
Stanford improves to 2-0 all-time against the Cardinals.
The Cardinal continues its four-game road trip on Thursday, March 26 at Georgia Tech. The first serves are set for 1 p.m. PT.
