ATLANTA – No. 22 Stanford men’s tennis won its second consecutive match on the road, defeating No. 45 Georgia Tech, 4-1. The Cardinal improves to 13-6 on the season and 6-3 in the ACC.
Stanford got the afternoon started with wins on courts one and two in doubles. Alex Chang and Alex Razeghi scored a 6-4 victory on court one for their 15th as a duo this season, and ninth in dual matches, while Nico Godsick and Hudson Rivera clinched Stanford’s advantage with a 6-3 win on court two, their fifth as a pair this year.
Pushing its advantage to 2-0, Jagger Leach finished a straight sets win on court five, 6-4, 6-2, for his 12th victory of the dual season. Georgia Tech responded in singles with a win on court six, pulling within one, 2-1.
Hudson Rivera restored the two-point lead with a 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory on court four, his ninth triumph of the season, and Nico Godsick clinched his third match of the season with a three-set victory on court two, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The win was the ninth of the year for Godsick and seventh in a row to open ACC action.
Stanford improves to 7-1 all-time against Georgia Tech.
The Cardinal returns to the court on Saturday, March 28 at 9 a.m. PT at Clemson.
