OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – Racing on Melton Hill Lake, Stanford lightweight rowing wrapped up its first competition of the spring slate. Competing against only openweight boats, Stanford fielded its varsity eight as well as two varsity fours.
Stanford’s varsity eight held its own against the Volunteers third and fourth openweight eights, leading through 500 meters and nearly level through 1500 meters before crossing the line just five seconds behind the third place boat in the field.
The Cardinal fielded a pair of varsity fours, with the 1V4 competing against the openweight second varsity and two Tennessee boats and the 2V4 taking on a trio of Volunteer quartets. Each took fourth in their respective heats.
