Men's Tennis Travels to ACC Championship

No. 17 Stanford will look to repeat as champions in Cary

  • The postseason has arrived for No. 17 Stanford men's tennis, as it travels to Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina for the 2026 ACC Championship. Stanford earned the No. 4 seed and a double-bye, and it will face the winner of fifth-seeded No. 29 NC State and 13th-seeded No. 60 Florida State on Friday, April 17 at 7 a.m. PT.
  • The Cardinal is looking to begin its ACC tenure with back to back titles, as it won the 2025 ACC Championship in Cary. A year ago, Stanford downed then-No. 17 Florida State and No. 19 Duke to reach the ACC Championship match, and it defeated No. 6 Virginia, 4-2, to raise the trophy in its first season in the league.
  • Stanford enters the weekend with a 16-7 overall record and 9-4 mark in the ACC, tying for third in the standings but losing the tiebreaker to Notre Dame. Stanford has split four of its six ACC weeekends with two home sweeps, in addition to a road victory at California. The Cardinal swept then-No. 36 SMU and Boston College March 13-14 before opening the brand new Arrillaga Tennis Center with 4-3 wins over then-No. 3 Wake Forest and No. 23 NC State.
  • The Cardinal enters the match ranked No. 17 in the country in the April 14 ITA computer rankings, dropping from a season-high No. 3 in the Jan. 28 rankings, which was the program's highest ranking since March 27, 2018, but staying steady over the past week. Hudson Rivera (No. 59) and Alex Razeghi (No. 70) were ranked in the updated singles rankings while the duo of Alex Chang and Razeghi slots in at No. 20 after previously reaching a season best mark of No. 6 on March 17.
  • Alex Razeghi leads the team with 19 singles wins this season, including a 16-1 mark in dual play and four match clinches, while five players have reached double figure wins: Leach (15), Chang (14), Rivera (13) and Godsick (10). The tandem of Chang and Razeghi paces the Cardinal with 16 doubles wins while the duo and Godsick and Rivera has posted six. Chang and Razeghi also reached the round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championship in November.
  • Stanford is 2-1 all-time against both NC State and Florida State, it's two possible opponents in the quarterfinals, with a win over the Wolfpack this season and a 2-0 mark against Florida State a year ago, including in the ACC quarterfinals. Against it's possible semifinal opponents, Stanford is 2-5 all-time against Wake Forest, including a win on the Farm on April 3, 9-2 against Duke, including a 3-0 mark since joining the ACC with a semifinals win a year ago, and 9-0 against Miami.
  • Jagger Leach was named ACC Rookie of the Week on April 7 for the third time this season for his performance in the wins over Wake Forest and NC State. Leach clinched both matches in dramatic, three-set fashion at the Arrillaga Tennis Center.
  • After a strong performance at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, Alex Chang and Alex Razeghi were crowned the ACC Doubles Team of the Week on Feb. 19. The duo went 3-0 in doubles at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with two wins over top-10 teams. Additionally, they were named to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships All-Tournament Team at No. 1 Doubles.
  • Entering ITAs, Stanford swept a pair of ranked opponents in No. 14 UCLA (4-2) and No. 22 USC (4-1). The prior week, Stanford hosted ITA Kickoff Weekend from Jan. 23-24, defeating Utah (4-1) and Rice (4-0) to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Stanford added a 4-3 win over a top-25 Arizona State squad at ITAs.
  • The Cardinal finished a remarkable season in 2024-25, going 26-6 overall while winning an ACC Championship in its first season in the conference and advancing to the national semifinals of the NCAA Championships and the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
  • Stanford returns seven players from last season's roster, including ITA All-American Samir Banerjee and four additional players that won at last nine singles matches last season. The Cardinal added a trio of strong newcomers in Jagger Leach, the top-rated recruit in the country per Tennis Recruiting Network, five-star signee Mark Krupkin and California transfer Alex Chang, who was an All-Pac-12 second team honoree for the Golden Bears in 2024.
  • The Cardinal has had success on the professional level, notably with Nishesh Basavareddy, Tristan Boyer and Arthur Fery in recent years. All three have earned grand slam wins, including second round Australian Open appearances in 2026 from Basavareddy and Fery. Boyer has reached the second round of the US Open and the Australian Open, while Fery also reached the second round in singles at Wimbledon in 2025, beating the world No. 20 player Alexei Popyrin, and the third round in doubles at Wimbledon in 2024.
  • Stanford's current student-athletes have also seen widespread success in ITF Futures and ATP Challenger tournaments, with the program earning 12 ITF futures championships in the summer of 2025, including eight titles from returning players.
  • Paul Goldstein is in his 12th season as the Taube Family Director of Men's Tennis. Goldstein’s teams have posted a 208-86 record with a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Championships in each of his seasons at the helm.
