REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – No. 7 Stanford lightweight rowing defended its home course against No. 3 Boston University, scoring an eight-second victory in the varsity eight. The Terriers posted wins in the V4+ and V2x to close the regatta.
Opening the regatta at 9 a.m., the V8+ took an early lead and outlasted Boston University’s third-ranked boat by 8.5 seconds, stopping the clock with a time of 7:01.2. The win was the first of the year for the varsity eight when competing against only lightweight programs, building momentum heading into Eastern Sprints.
Capping the regatta, Stanford’s varsity four finished in a time of 8:23.9 and the varsity two in 8:47.5.
Stanford returns to the water on Sunday, May 3 at Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Massachusetts.
