Iwai, Kim Win MPSF Weekly Awards

STANFORD, Calif. - Following the regular season finale at Burnham Pavilion this past weekend, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) announced that both Jun Iwai and Cooper Kim earned weekly conference awards.

Iwai was tabbed MPSF Gymnast of the Week after winning two event titles on Saturday, lifting the Cardinal to a victory over No. 8 California and No. 13 Air Force with a 322.700 team score. Iwai posted career highs on floor exercise (14.700) and high bar (14.300), with his floor routine becoming the highest score in the nation this season. It is the third career conference honor for Iwai, and the first Gymnast of the Week honor of his career.

Kim earned MPSF Specialist of the Week honors after earning a share of the vault title with a 14.350 routine. He also turned in a season-best 14.200 to finish as the runner-up on floor exercise, earning the fourth conference honor of his career.

Third-ranked Stanford now gears up for the postseason, beginning with the MPSF Championships on April 4 in Berkeley, Calif., at Haas Pavilion.
