STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford track & field closes the outdoor regular season on The Farm this weekend, hosting the 30th edition of the Payton Jordan Invitational on Friday at Cobb Track & Angell Field.
Named after the longtime Stanford head coach, the Payton Jordan is scheduled to begin with field events at 3 p.m., with distance races slated to get underway at 5:45 p.m. Fans can follow along with live results on Record Timing.
Typically geared toward field and distance events, the biggest highlight of last season's Payton Jordan was the collegiate debut of Sydney Barta, who became the first para-athlete to compete for Stanford in program history. Barta is registered to compete in both the 100 meters and 200 meters on Friday.
Throwers Brandy Atuatasi, Julia Lemmon, and Emma Sralla headline the field events for the Cardinal. Atuatasi and Sralla will appear in the discus, where they have each set Stanford top-10 marks this season, while Lemmon will compete in the shot put after setting a top-five freshman mark her last time out.
As the sun sets on Cobb Track & Angell Field, the distance groups will be on full display, as Zane Bergen and Leo Young highlight the men's 1500-meter sections, followed by Sophia Kennedy and Zofia Dudek in the women's 5,000 meters.
The Payton Jordan Invitational also serves as one of the final qualifying opportunities for the NCAA West Prelims, which take the top 48 in each event (and 24 in relays) and serve as the qualifying meet for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
