Lights Take Bronze at Eastern Sprints

No. 5 Stanford finished with a time of 6:30.221

WORCESTER, Mass. – In its final action ahead of the IRA Championships, No. 5 Stanford lightweight rowing posted a bronze medal finish at Eastern Sprints, hosted on Lake Quinsigamond.

The Cardinal only sent its varsity eight to race this weekend in Worcester, and it advanced to the grand final with a second-place finish in its heat on Sunday morning. Stanford trailed only Princeton in the first heat, finishing with a time of 6:34.733 ahead of crews from Boston University and Wisconsin.

Stanford improved its time by over four seconds in the grand final, stopping the clock with a time of 6:30.221. The Cardinal claimed third by 3.6 seconds over Boston University, while MIT and Georgetown finished in fifth and sixth.

Stanford returns to the water May 29-31 in Gold River, California at the IRA Championships
