Clark Named Regional Coach-Of-The-Year

Talented coach nabs second Coach-of-the-Year honor this season

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Stanford University men's soccer coach Bobby Clark was named the NSCAA/Umbro Far West Region (IV) Division I Coach-of-the-Year. Clark is now in the running for National Coach-of-the-Year, which will be selected from the eight regional winners.

This season, Clark led the Cardinal to a 13-5-2 record and its first NCAA Tournament appearance in five years. Two of Stanford's five losses came against two of this year's Final Four participants - No. 1 Indiana (1-2) and No. 3 UCLA (0-1) - while a third came at the hands of No. 6 Washington (0-1) in the first round of the tournament.

The Cardinal had defeated the Huskies earlier in the season by the same score. The Cardinal went undefeated (13-0-2) through its first 15 games of the season and climbed as high as No. 2 in the country before falling to the top-ranked Hoosiers.

The Regional Coach-of-the-Year honor is the third of Clark's career. He was twice named the Northeast Region (I) Coach-of-the-Year while at Dartmouth. Earlier this season, Clark was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Mountain Division Coach-of-the-Year for leading Stanford to its first-ever MPSF Mountain Division title.
